Debbie J. Daunt, MSN
Debbie became a nurse in 1999. Her primary focus since then has been in academia. Through her early graduate work at the University of Missouri, she was involved with much of the original research done in the field of lymphedema as a complication of treatment for breast cancer in the U.S. and published and presented internationally on the topic. Recently, she has returned to this area of research and currently is a member of a multidisciplinary research and development team exploring techniques to minimize lower limb edema in ambulatory patients.
Debbie began teaching nursing in 2002 and has taught most courses in the nursing curriculum. Currently, her teaching interest is in the transition to practice and preparing students to pass the NCLEX. She has created the NCLEX preparation courses at Dominican and most recently a new junior-level course. She has also enjoyed teaching outside the nursing department and developed several popular colloquia. Debbie is proud to have been a member of the Big History faculty at Dominican.
